Creative Workshops Planned For Keeping Exotic Pets Conundrum
A fantastic opportunity for 18-25 year old students has arisen to voice their opinions on pet keeping.
They will "learn about the trade in different species of animals who end up as pets, and help to co-design and create a social media campaign which shares what participants identify as key information."
The 20 successful applicants will be paid £50.00 per day on October 22nd-23rd in Glasgow, Scotland.
The question: 'Should wild animals be kept as pets?' will be at the forefront of discussions.
'Exotic pets' are shone the spotlight and so our cuddly dogs or cats are exempt.
University of Exeter's Professor Samantha Hurn will lead proceedings and build upon her Don't Pet Me research.
Sian Moody, also of The University of Exeter, advertised the event on Facebook.
Key non-profit organisations, OneKind, Born Free Foundation and the Scottish SPCA, are building on their Don't Pet Me campaign and are using the workshop as a tool to spread awareness on Social Media.
Positive or White Lists would be lawful tools specifically stating which animals the public can, and cannot, keep as pets.
It has been a year since a list was proposed and is due to dwindling animal welfare conditions as stated in the SSPCA's manifesto to politicians.
Sian Moody has been contacted for comment.
